Easter is normally buzzing with fun, family events over the long weekend. Sadly, this is no ordinary holiday. All the joy and eggcitement we would normally look for by gathering with friends and neighbors is now left for us to create.

Luckily, the online world is full of great ideas, and the Easter bunny knows where you live, so you can look like an eggspert and deliver a little magic at home.

Here are some ways you can keep the spirit of the holiday alive in while staying at home. Better hop to it!

Wear Your Sunday Best

Social distancing has probably changed your daily wardrobe quite a bit – yoga pants and t-shirts have been my uniform these past few weeks. Here’s the perfect eggscuse to get out of your pajamas, brush your hair and put on something sparkly for the day, and let the kids choose their own special outfit.

Create an Easter Hunt

Try an Easter hunt for the kids in the house or backyard – and it doesn’t just have to be chocolate eggs! You can use stickers, coloring books, stationery, accessories or cuddly bunnies. You could even start with a letter from the Easter Bunny, or some sneaky footprints (paper printable or flour) or pieces of fur (cotton wool) for some added drama. If you want to get adventurous add puzzles and riddles for the kids to solve to get their loot!

Get Crafty

Grab the glitter! Seek out the cellophane! Get the fun stuff ready for some hands-on arts and crafts. Keep your little bunnies busy and eggscited by making fingerprint bunnies and chicks or dip-dyed eggs. You can even dig out those leftover party supplies and draw bunny faces on balloons and try your hand at making Easter bunny garland.

Send Easter Cards

Get out your scrapbooks and stickers, pencils and paints and make someone’s day with a card. Send them to your family, friends or neighbors. Add a mini egg to sweeten up your message!

Play Easter Games

Get the family together for an egg and spoon race or pin the tail on the bunny. Coordinate a walking egg hunt with your neighbors. Here’s how it works – ask all of your neighbors to draw and decorate a large egg and hang it in one of their windows. On Easter, go for a walk around the neighborhood to spy all of the hidden eggs.

Watch A Bunny Flick

Snuggle up in your bunny onesie and put on an Easter-ish movie! Hop, Peter Rabbit and Rise of the Guardians are all eggcellent ways to cozy up and celebrate.

Now there’s no eggscuse not to have a very hoppy holiday!
